SANTO DOMINGO CITY

Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic, is a city rich in history, culture and architectural beauty. The Colonial Zone is the historic center of Santo Domingo and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Here you will find cobbled streets, well-preserved colonial houses, old churches and historical monuments, such as the Cathedral of Santa María la Menor and the Alcázar de Colón. The Alcázar de Colón is one of the main attractions of Santo Domingo.

It was built by Diego Colón, son of Christopher Columbus, and assigned as a residence for the governors of the time. Today, it is a museum that houses an important collection of art and furniture from the colonial era. The Malecón is a boardwalk that extends along the coast of Santo Domingo. It is a popular place to walk, run and enjoy the panoramic views of the sea. You will also find restaurants and bars along the Malecón, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the Caribbean atmosphere.
